Hi! This is our first hike in the Jämtland Mountains, so we really appreciate feedback from those of you with experience.
Unfortunately, we don't speak Swedish, so we write in English – but we are happy to receive answers in any language 🙂
So, we're planning a 5-day trek along the Vålådalsfyrkanten in late July (taking it slower than the usual 4 days, hiking with my son).
It'll be our first time in the area, so I'd really appreciate a quick sanity check from anyone familiar with the area.
Plan:
Day 0 – Arrival
Day 1
Vålådalen → wild camp 2–3 km before Lunndörren
Day 2
Camp → Lunndörren (resupply) → camp ~4 km past the hut (above treeline if possible)
Day 3
Camp → towards Vålåstugan → camp before reaching the hut (near water)
Day 4
Plateau → Stensdalen (resupply) → camp after the hut (forest / near river)
Day 5
Return to Vålådalen

Plan:
- Wild camping throughout (as I understand, this is allowed in Sweden?)
- Carrying ~1L water per person (with a filter, assuming regular water sources)
- Resupply at STF Lunndörren (Day 2) and STF Stensdalen (Day 4)
Day 0 – Arrival
- Night train: Stockholm Central → Undersåker
- Shuttle: Undersåker → Vålådalen Mountain Station (planning to book in advance)

Questions:
- Does this pacing make sense for late July conditions?
- Any concerns about water availability along this route?
- Are the planned camping zones reasonable?
