Jojo-leden / Trepassleden

Thank you. That is the app I have been using to explore routes. It is where I found the name Kaskavagge.
oh yes - you are right - the west part of the valley is called Kaskasavagge and the east part Kaskavagge.

I would say both the northern and southern pass are difficult, but in different ways.
If you can cross a glacier e.g. with rope kit safety in a team, the southern is basically a normal walk and not steep at all.

And if you have crampons and are not afraid of steepness, usually the north is no issue either. I advise against going on the western cliffs in that pass as an alternative; have done it with full backpack when I was twenty-one and reckless. But it is an YDS 3+ climb and a lot of loose rocks which can spell trouble especially if you are on a team.

The middle pass is medium easy, nothing else than rough rock terrain with some boulders.

Most of the valleys are fairly easy to follow. Also Kaskavagge bridge to Tarfala. However, Unna Räita to Kaskasavagge or Kuopervagge to Tarfala are more demanding. Up to you.

Thanks. I don't have training or experience on ropes or ice ax and I certainly don't have a "team", so perhaps I should not consider the south pass. Perhaps I could hike up and back to Svarta sjön from the north if it with seeing. I may at least check out the north pass. I'm generally OK with steep scrambles. I have Kahtoola Microspikes. Would those qualify as "crampons"? I find that term is used differently by different people.

I looked at a picture of those, and it looks smallish, but like it might work for a passage in the majority of pass conditions. If pure ice then you will probably have hard luck smashing those small spikes into the ice, just walking is probably not enough traction.
