The Project.
On April 1st 2006 a great bicycle adventure commences in Copenhagen, Denmark. Two Danish guys (aged 30) leave everything behind and go on an unsupported bicycle journey around the world covering more than 30 countries and more than 30.000 kilometres through Eastern Europe, Asia, Oceania, and the Americas. Where ever possible the bicycle will be the only form of transportation being used (ferries and airplanes tolerated where necessary) and the planned duration for the expedition is approximately 2 years.
Motivation.
The project is non-profitable and mainly self-financed. The motivation lies in an insatiable appetite and lust for some of the inspiring, fantastic experiences & places that our world contain. We’ll be the first Danish people to travel around the world by bicycle using only bicycles where possible.
Who Are We?
Taking part in the expedition are Martin Amor (b.1975) and Nicolai Bangsgaard (b. 1976). Professionally Martin has been working as a computer games programmer for the last 10 years in Oslo, Norway and Copenhagen, Denmark. Nicolai has a Masters Degree in Social Anthropology at the University of Copenhagen. Though the roads we’re coming are very different, we certainly share the roads of our biggest dream ahead of us.
Website.
We have set up a comprehensive and professional website (www.worldtravellers.dk) with photos, journals, maps, newsletter service etc. that we’ll update regularly along the way. It comes in both Danish and English - please check it out!
Feel free to visit our website, register for the newsletter and enjoy yourself!
Cheers,
Nicolai - Copenhagen
