Kungsleden: Abisko - Hemavan

Hej! Myself and a friend are trekking the entire Kings Trail, from Abisko to Hemavan this Juli/August.
We were wondering if any of you can answer these questions:

- How long will it take, approximately ?
- Is it possible to ship resupply boxes to the huts along the way? If so, which ones?
- If not, is there any other way of picking up food along the way?

Any tips are much appreciated!

Thanks.

No need for resupply boxes. You can buy food along the way. Between Abisko-Kvikkjokk and Ammarnäs-Hemavan in every second hut. And you can find small supermarkets in Kvikkjokk, Jäckvik and Ammarnäs also. Just bring food for a few days to start with.

The distance is 450 km and normal walking speed is 4 km/hour which makes 20 km per day comfortable if you are quite fit. With a few days rest yes 25 days is normal. But you have a few mountains to "climb" (easy walking) along the way which makes the trip much better. Don't miss and add one week extra for som stunning views:

- Tjäktjatoppen.
- Kebnekaise (swedens highest peak takes a full day of hard walking)
- Sanjartjåkka.
- Skierffe.
- Norra Sytertoppen.

And remember there are some really nice saunas along the way.
And a lot of lakes to cross try to found out about boat transport schedules.
And bring plenty of cash the huts doesn't take credit cards.

Also - Do you know how the prices in these huts are? Is it super expensive?

You can check the rates and also book here: http://www.svenskaturistforeningen.se/en/
Rates given assume you are a member. Something you should definitely consider becoming if you plan to do the whole trail. Not only will you save around 100SEK per night at cabins, it will also give you a discount on some of the boat transports.

Food can be expensive in the huts since they are in remote locations.
