Dear Climbers,
Together with our Russian and Chinese partners we will organise an expedition
to MUZTAGATA, (7546 meter), in western China's Xinjiang province. It takes place
from July 8 to August 1. For quick deciders there are still some places left.
So if you are interested read on!
Muztagata is the highest peak in the Muztagata Feng, which together with
Kongur massive, (highest peak, 7719 m) to the North forms the western termination
of the giant Kunlun mountain chain. Both mountains dramatically stand-alone and
reach 2000 meter above the neighbouring mountains, making for one of the best
mountain setting to be found everywhere.
Many of the peaks in the area are very difficult and still unclimbed, but
not Muztagata main peak, which was first climbed in 1956 by a Russian/Chinese
party. The west flank of this giant consists of one huge, unbroken and gently
sloping glacier headwall. Of all high mountains there is none technically as
easy as Muztagata. About twenty parties climb it each year, with a very high
rate of success; even strong mountain walkers sometimes succeed in reaching the
summit!
