sovsäck blir blöt???

i have found that when i'm winter camping for 5 days or longer that my sleeping bag (haglöfs -30) tends to gather some moisture AND the part around my mouth gets really wet / icy which is a real problem.

how can you avoid these problems?
and FYI, i don't breath inside my sleeping bag.

For longer use in cold conditions a vapor barrier is prefered. Especially when it comes to down bags. Practically speaking you're sleeping inside a plastic bag (inside the sleeping bag) and thus preventing the sleeping bag from absorbing the moist. Its not at all glamourous but it will keep your bag dry.

When it comes to the breathing problem one trick is to use the arm of you shell jacket to create a sort of breathing trunk wich will lead the moist away.

What tent do you use? Do you get alot of condensation in it? I usually have all the vent as open as possible and also don't close the upper half of the inner tent door. Then I get good airflow through the tent but it won't be so "windy" right at my face, it does get a bit colder but rather that than damp equipment.

Also, when I'm sleeping in a tent i usually put my shelljacket around the foot-end of the sleeping bag to prevent it from being in directcontact with the innertent.

sleeping in a plastic bag does not really seem like a very practical solution. wouldn't the heat from your body just stay inside and condense anyway???
what do people that spend months in the arctic or antartica? there has got to be another solution.

the tents i use are Hilleberg Akto (which i want to sell if your interested) and a FjällRaven RS/2. the ventilation is fine in each of them.

ps, loved the breathing ad, hahaha!!

They use a vapor barrier :)

If you stay in places like Antarctica weeks on end you can't take a chans: If your sleeping bag gets wet you get dead.

However if I would camp out up to two weeks maximum using a down bag I probably would not use a vapor barrier. Using a synthetic sleepingbag I probably would not use a vapor barrier at all.
