Platån mellan Jågåsjgaskajiegna och Oarjep Oalgásjjiegna

I made a GPS waypoint of our campsite when I was there. Maybe this helps... Coordinates: SWEREF 99 TM N 7472304, E 608391 WGS84 67°20'50.4"N 17°31'21"E Altitude: 942m There is a lot of space for tents here with streams nearby.

Platån mellan Jågåsjgaskajiegna och Oarjep Oalgásjjiegna

Perhaps I can provide some information on the second point. Last autumn we tented in Ahkavagge and took a day excursion to the lake at 1411m. The plan was to go up Axel Hamberg's Top, but the weather was not good enough. We pitched our tent at around 950m near the river. The valley becomes very...

    Färdväg över Luohttolahko

Very useful comments from smux and Hans. I can try to elaborate a bit as well. This spot is definitely a good option and the one we used as well. Ruopsokjåhkå has quite a deep ravine so you have to be careful where you go down to the river. Near this spot at around 1000m it is doable, but still...

    Färdväg över Luohttolahko

Hi! I have done exactly this route last September. Is it entirely doable and Luottolahko is a very interesting place that is definitely worth visiting. The way up to Luottolahko is fairly simple. The terrain is mostly grass and other than the elevation there is nothing to worry about. Probably...

    Rago to Padjelanta via Trolldalen

Hi @MaartenB91! Unfortunately, the pandemic made me change plans that summer. I have since not been able to test the ground there :(

    App för att planera rutter

I use two apps for planning routes with also both allowing offline use on the go. 1. Locus Maps: This is a generic app for handling maps, with a lot of features. The good thing about it is that it has a free version and can do quite a lot of things. The down side is that it does not come...

    Aktse - Skierfe - Låddebakte - Sourva

Sounds like a great hike you have planned! I think the route you have chosen is a good one, although I am not entirely sure how you are planning to get to Aktse, maybe from Salto? How long it will take highly depends on your style of hiking. I myself have done the Salto - Skierfe - Bielavallda...

    Summit Trips in Sarek

Thanks for the insightful answer! The unusual nature of the routes up the summits is an extra attraction for me. I have just remembered that I have purchased the new laser scanned 1: 25000 map of Parte. It seems to be quite useful for planning summit trips. Based on this map you are right, it...

    Summit Trips in Sarek

I am planning a longer trip in Sarek and I am hoping to include a few summit trips if weather permits. I am looking for any information on the following summits: 1. Bulkas from Luohttolahko: I have not found anything about this here on utisdan, however based on the map it seems like it should...

    Reservdagar i Rapadalen m.m.

I did this route a couple of years ago and it took us 5 days, although we are generally slow hikers. I would say 4 days is probably not enough. Going fast in Rapaselet is quite difficult due to the dense vegetation and can take a lot of energy. The most difficult water crossing is probably...

    trackerapp

Giving your google password is not necessary. You can share your real time location with a trusted person via google maps, this is explained here. This will result in your location being visible on your partner's google maps app at all times. It works really well!

    Tråd för tips av kartverktyg

On Android I use two resources, but sadly neither are free: 1. Top GPS GPS Sweden by rdzl. The good thing about this app is that it allows you to download areas of the map for offline use so you can use it while hiking. It also uses GPS to place you on the map. The app is small and simple, so...

    Rago to Padjelanta via Trolldalen

Actually, do you know why there is a big chunk of Sarek missing from the map?

    Rago to Padjelanta via Trolldalen

Great! Thanks for the clarification. I do consider myself a map nerd so I am very happy about this new tool you have showed me. You are right, it definitely depends a lot on the ground conditions and not just the gradient, this can usually be inferred from satellite images. I will have a look at...

    Rago to Padjelanta via Trolldalen

This is a great tool! I was not aware of it before, thanks. I am a bit unsure how to interpret the numbers though as I don't usually know what % incline a hillside is when I'm going up. Is 30% incline somehow a natural borderline between should be possible without climbing equipment and impossible?

    Rago to Padjelanta via Trolldalen

Based on the photo, this certainly looks too dangerous to attempt. I had look at your photos of the area and it indeed should be possible to cross the river this high in the valley. Thanks for the help again!

    Rago to Padjelanta via Trolldalen

Thank you so much for this detailed answer! I actually found your website earlier today and followed your description closely. I also sent you an email earlier today, I was unaware that you are here on Utsidan. Before I read your site I actually planned to follow Trolldalen all the way up to...

    Rago to Padjelanta via Trolldalen

I am trying to figure out a route for my next hike in the summer. I want to start in Rago and end up on the north side of Vastenjaure while hiking in Trolldalen as much as possible. There are two main questions: 1. Is it actually possible to get to the deeper parts of Trolldalen from...
