Sir Ernest Shackelton simply the best

Sir Ernest Shackelton

Watched the 2nd part of a two part series on my English TV channel last night
and for all you people out there that like down to the bone & sharp as a knife
adventure then this is a must…

This spectacular film, starring Kenneth Branagh, tells for the first time the true story of the events leading up to the expedition and charts in graphic detail the lives of the twenty eight men after their ship was crushed and sank, forcing Shackleton to lead them to safety across the ice, the sea and finally the uncharted mountains of South Georgia. Shot on the Arctic sea ice, Shackleton is funny, moving and epic in its portrayal of this extraordinary story…. Did you know the very first person to be put ashore on Elephant island had to be dragged there because he had frostbite in both feet…do you know how to make husky stew
have you ever tasted roast albatross..can your stomach take the site of amputation
with just a razorblade & a bowel of hot water..

Have enclosed a link to the channel 4 shop & at appx 225 sek this is a real steal of a film & not a goretex jacket in sight..

Agree

I have just had a long period teaching my students about explorers, and Shackleton is an all time favorite. I am a teacher in 5th grade at Frankfurt International School and reading about Shackleton's amazing journey is for kids, as for grownups, breathtaking!
