The Cyclists - Shooting for a new world record.

Martin Adserballe - Denmark. 30, lives in Copenhagen, owner of a small company and is almost done with his economy education. He is the present Guinness Book of Records holder in high altitude cycling (7008m), which he set on Muztagh Ata year 2000.   Martin loves cycling on high altitudes - especially 5000m+ passes in Tibet - "the higher the better is his motto in this topic. This years expedition is his fifth in western China. More about Martin.

janne.jpg (6065 bytes) Janne Corax. Can't get enough of neither cycling nor mountains and the idea of this expedition is to combine these two interests, if possible to an altitude he has never been before. Earlier adventures and escapades.
stefan.jpg (4276 bytes) Stefan Backlund - 22 from Stockholm/Arjeplog Sweden.
Works at the present as a bicycle courier in Stockholm and has approx. 17 000 km of cycling in his legs. He is self educated in wildlife and has usually gone solo on his past adventures. A goal oriented training junkie with the aim set on big experiences and hard physicl efforts, which goes fine with his motto: "No pain, no gain and you will remain the same"
honza.jpg (5402 bytes) Honza Galla - 21, from Ostrava, Czech Repblic. Has studied Sports Management on the Technical University in Ostrava and has a mixed carreer of sports behind him. Competed in biathlon for ten years, but nowadays it's mostly mountain orienteering, triathlon and other edurance sports that attracts him. In 2001 Honza and his cousin cycled 6700km through approx. ten countries in northern Europe. "The Arctic Circle Tandem Expedition". Honza has been mountaineering in the Austrian Alps, The Dolomites and in Slovakia. At the moment Honza is working as a sports guide for the Kudrna Brno travel agency.

The Climbers - Climbing Muztagh Ata "the normal way".

charlie.jpg (4765 bytes) Charlotte Björkegren, 30, lives in Stockholm which is her base for ski-ascents and climbing trips. Past experiences includes Sweden Norway and the Alps, but nas no + 5000 meter experiences. When not skiing or climbing, she finds the balance between the work as a consult and free time in yoga and running.
olof.jpg (3186 bytes) Olof Dallner 24, lives in Stockholm, has been climbing rock and alpine for the last 6 years. He usually climbs a lot on Fettjefjället in Klövsjö, but also on other locations. Trains cross country skiing and terrain running. Climbed for two months in Bolivia in the summer of 2001 - "Swedish Apolobamba Expedition 2001".
oscar.jpg (4798 bytes) Oscar Fors is 29 years old and lives in Stockholm, Sweden, where he works as a consultant. In spite of his city living he managed to get 42 days of skiing the season 2001, which among others included the classic alpine tour "Haute Route", skiing adventures in Iran and several ascents of mountains in the Alps, Norway and Sweden. In the summer he climbs rocks as a complement to the endurance training for triathlon and Ironman races. As a mountain biker he has also participated in races in the Swedish long distance cup. During the winter he can be seen on his bike on the lakes in the capital racing skaters.
Sebastien Fourure, 20, from the Grenoble area in the Alps, France. Seb joined the expedition last minute in Kashgar, after months of climbing in Nepal and other parts of Asia.
marcus.jpg (5950 bytes) Markus Haraldsson, 24, studying peace and conflict science in Uppsala  and works extra as a freelance journalist/photographer. Ex-orienteerer, who has lived, studied and cycled in China. His personal altitude record is from the 6200 meter high mountain Nevado Ampato in Peru, spring 2001.
tomas.jpg (4179 bytes) Tomas Odhult will be 30 in May, and is originally from the Varberg on the wes coast of Sweden, but lives in Stockholm since a year back. Training climbing, running and cycling. Did a longer bicycle tour in Central Asia in 2000, including the Karakoram Highway from Kashi to Islamabad.
gabriel2.jpg (3328 bytes) Gabriel Richert, 31 years old, from Stockholm, Sweden, works as a HR-consultant. Gabriel has done a lot of skiing, hiking and biking, and has gotten to know altitude sickness the hard way, even though he´s never been quite as high up as Muztagh Ata before. He´s also the team medic, army-trained in spraining fractured or patching up blown-to-lasagna legs. Gabriel can´t wait to get to China - although he will surely be missing his Irish wolfhound puppy - and his fiancée.
